What area do you want to cover?
Measure only the area that will actually receive the wall trim. Don't include baseboards, crown molding or other trim in your measurements.
Are there any areas to exclude, such as windows, doors, or attached items?
Measure the full area that won't receive trim, including any trim around it.
Put your tape measure on the outside edge of the trim
and measure to the outside edge on the other side.
Don't include small things you'll simply work around, like outlets, switches or small fixtures.
